This week’s record is from my grandfather’s mother Florence (Spinks) Garfield. It is the ledger she used to track the family’s income and expenses from 1914 to 1924 on the Garfield farm in French Creek, Chautauqua County, New York. It gives an interesting glimpse into the life of a farm family in the early 1900s. What they produced to sell, what they bought, what work was performed for other people, places they delivered to, etc.
